The team put the car on the trailer about 70 miles from Albuquerque to meet a 1 p.m. checkpoint deadline. Twenty teams will depart Sunday from the area on Historic Route 66.

It's lunch time at the American Solar Challenge and hot dogs are served up to teams at the University of New Mexico checkpoint Saturday.  In a 102-degree day, the hot dogs were cooked using a solar-powered oven.
