GIFTS
If your team is planning to give away items in Canada, please note that some restrictions apply. If you have some postcars or photos that you plan to hand out at checkpoints, you are probably ok. If the total value of the gifts you are bringing is over $60 (Canadian), you may need to pay a duty/tax fee when you enter Canada. T-shirts and hats are of particular concern and the fee varies depending on where the item was manufactured (7% PST and 7% GST for clothing plus an additional 17% duty for clothing made outside the U.S or Mexico). Permits are no longer needed for t-shirts/hats.
