2005 North American Solar Challenge
Sioux Falls, South Dakota

The 2005 North American Solar Challenge will have a checkpoint stop in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Each team will stop for 30 minutes at the checkpoint to meet with the public, rayce officials, change drivers, and prepare for the next part of the route.

The public is welcome to view the cars and talk to the teams.

Checkpoint Location

The City of Sioux Falls is hosting the checkpoint stop in Falls Park.

Schedule

The solar cars are expected to arrive at the checkpoint on July 20-21. The exact schedule will vary depending on the weather. During the rayce, updates on team locations will be available on the Recent Sightings page.

July 20 - Wed.	8:55 a.m.	Estimated open time.
July 20 - Wed.	6:30 p.m.	End of raycing activities for the day.
July 21 - Thur.	7:45 a.m.	Start of raycing activities for the day.
July 21 - Thur.	3:28:12 p.m.	Checkpoint timing closes.
July 21 - Thur.	3:58:12 p.m.	Checkpoint activity ends.
Note: As the rayce route is finalized, these times may be slightly adjusted.

Estimated Open Time - It is unlikely that the first solar car will arrive before this time. The actual arrival time will likely be a bit later and will depend on traffic and weather.

Checkpoint Timing Closes - Solar cars must arrive by this time to receive credit for the checkpoint stop. Teams arriving after the close time are not required to stop. If all teams arrive early, the checkpoint will close early.

Checkpoint Activity Ends - All solar cars that arrived before closing will have finished their 30 minute checkpoint time. The checkpoint crew will be packing up. Note that if all teams arrive early, the checkpoint activity will end early.
