Regulation 6.5.8 |
| Question: |
|
To what extent will rule 6.5.8 (Egress) be enforced? Does the car have to be in racing configuration (i.e. all systems on the canopy plugged in...solar cells on the canopy, rear view camera, etc.) for the test? Also, to what extent may assistants be used? During Scrutineering at the qualifier, some teams only had to break the seal of their canopy before assistants were allowed to remove the canopy for them while on other cars a penalty was called if assistants even touched the canopy. If a team is using a mock array to prevent solar cell damage, are assistants still allowed to remove the canopy for the driver since solar cell damage is no longer an issue? Lastly, it seems that the 10 second limitation for some teams was the exception rather than the rule. It seemed during the qualifier that several teams needed an extreme number of attempts to pass. Will there be any sort of limitation on number of attempts to pass, or will teams be allowed to continue trying as many times as necessary to pass?

Establishing situational parameters within which compliance is determined is at the discretion of the inspectors. 3 attempts per driver will be permitted, anything beyond that will be the discretion of the inspectors. The vehicle must be in full race configuration with all cables, straps, seatbelts etc fully attached as it would be when the car is driving in the race.
